Mechanical Engineering Specialist (TS/SCI W POLY) – Award-Winning Client

Location: Sterling, VA (On-Site)
Schedule: Full-time, Onsite with Paid Relocation

In this dynamic role, you’ll be responsible for process design, development, and qualification/testing tasks on intricate mechanical hardware, encompassing precision mechanisms and electro-mechanical components. Working within a collaborative program team environment, you will take ownership of significant system aspects, adapting to evolving program requirements. Your responsibilities may include supporting the program and providing technical leadership over various stages of design, from requirements definition to assembly/integration and testing. The ability to work independently or within a multi-disciplined team is essential. Expect to work hands-on in a lab environment, with occasional travel of up to 10%.

Qualifications:

  • Active Top-Secret Clearance with a CI Poly
  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience. Alternatively, a Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior experience.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling
  • Experience in critical hardware design and development

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in the design or development of precision mechanisms and mechatronic systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as Creo and understanding of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards.
  • Experience in additive manufacturing, part optimization, and design for manufacture and assembly are advantageous.
  • Experience with actuators, custom gear trains, electro-optical systems, materials testing, and manufacturing processes are all considered as added benefits.
