Description:
Our esteemed client, a leader in the Aerospace industry, is seeking a dynamic Senior FPGA / Digital Design Engineer to join their innovative team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the design and development of cutting-edge FPGA’s that interface with electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical components for advanced flight actuation systems. Reporting to the Electronics Engineering Manager, this role offers a 9/80 work schedule with the flexibility of a hybrid work option, requiring 3 days per week in Torrance, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the development of new electronic product requirements through collaboration with customers and system engineers.
- Execute trade studies and analyses to validate conceptual designs.
- Engage in circuit analysis and board-level design, encompassing schematic capture and specifying printed circuit board design requirements.
- Develop firmware for FPGAs interfacing with electronics, sensors, actuators, and communication links for cutting-edge actuation systems or avionics equipment.
- Conduct prototype testing, integration testing, and design verification and validation testing.
- Document design, analysis, and verification results concisely and accurately.
- Execute FPGA verification following project plans and standards.
- Deliver formal technical presentations to both internal and external stakeholders, supporting program reviews and business development.
- Specify and support the design of lab test setups.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Over 10 years of design and development engineering experience, with a preference for experience in the Aerospace or Defense industry.
- Expertise in digital design, including modern microprocessors/DSPs, high-speed digital logic, FPGA, memory, analog-to-digital, digital-to-analog converters, and communication links.
- Showcase detailed knowledge of VHDL coding and optimization for performance.
- Over 3 years of experience designing test benches and simulations using digital simulation tools (e.g., Modelsim, Active-HDL) for FPGA design verification.
- Analysis expertise, covering power dissipation, power use, timing, signal integrity, component derating, and Acceptance Test/Built-In Test coverage.
- Proficient in board design and layout, including design tools.
Skills and Certifications (Required):
- FPGA Design experience
- Experience with VHDL coding
- Circuit design experience
