Our Award Winning Client has an opening for a Senior Controls Engineer position in Addison, IL. This role entails providing leadership in project management and hardware engineering for diverse automation systems. The ideal candidate should possess expertise in PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA platforms, along with excellent problem-solving skills and a knack for fostering partnerships.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the design and implementation of innovative automation solutions, either independently or as a team leader.
  • Conceptualize, detail, and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery, ensuring alignment with client specifications.
  • Develop control system architectures, select components, and produce schematic diagrams and documentation.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Controls hardware, including Control Panel design, UL508A compliance, Motor Control Centers, and hazardous area panel design.
  • Design and implement industrial networking solutions to connect control system components and instrumentation, utilizing protocols such as Ethernet/IP, ProfiNET, and Modbus.
  • Act as a technical lead, guiding junior engineers and technicians on project execution.
  • Manage project tasks, schedules, budgets, and resources effectively, ensuring timely completion and profitability.
  • Oversee daily project operations, addressing challenges, and facilitating communication among team members.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards throughout the project lifecycle.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Over 10 years of experience in the design and implementation of control systems, preferably in industries such as Water/Wastewater Treatment, Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food and Beverage, Oil & Gas, and Mining.
  • Proficiency in electrical schematic design, power distribution, hazardous location control systems, surge protection, and control panel production processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of PLC hardware/software platforms (e.g., Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Modicon), HMI/SCADA platforms (e.g., Wonderware, GE iFIX, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk View, Schneider, Siemens), and DCS platforms (e.g., Emerson DeltaV).
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%, including occasional out-of-state travel.
