Our Award Winning Client seeks a Senior Automation Engineer for our Wilmington, MA office. This role demands demonstrated technical proficiency in implementing automation solutions with PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA platforms.

The Senior Controls Engineer will directly engage with customers and lead a team of engineers in identifying requirements, developing specifications, and implementing/testing/commissioning/qualifying automation solutions.

This leadership position within the business unit requires strong problem-solving ability, methodical project management skills, well-balanced interpersonal skills, an aptitude for business efficiency, and an interest in fostering partnerships. Success is measured by securing repeat work with both new and existing customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver innovative automation solutions and design standards either autonomously or as a team leader.
  • Conceptualize, detail, and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery, meeting customer requirements.
  • Develop control system architecture, select components, detail schematic diagrams, and system documentation.
  • Program controllers (PLC, DCS, RTU) and process visualization (HMI/SCADA).
  • Develop databases for archiving/displaying historical system data and implement/commission control systems at client facilities.
  • Utilize controller programming languages such as Ladder, Sequential Function Chart, Structured Text, and others.
  • Experience with industrial networking for connecting control system components and instrumentation.
  • Manage project execution plans, budgets, task prioritization, scheduling, financial tracking, and reporting.
  • Oversee daily operations and activities of projects up to $1M, ensuring overall profitability.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Greater than 10 years of experience with capabilities in various areas.
  • In-depth understanding of PLC, HMI/SCADA, and DCS platforms.
  • Familiarity with electrical schematics, AutoCAD, and power distribution under 480VAC.
  • Experience leading teams to provide control system solutions and mentoring less experienced engineers.
  • Proven experience managing automation design and implementation projects in the Life Science industry.
  • Strong knowledge of S88 Batch, regulatory requirements of the life science industry, and IT/OT networking.
  • Extensive knowledge of automation protocols and relational databases.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional references from a subordinate, a peer, and a manager preferred.

TRAVEL:

  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION:

  • Seeing, color perception, hearing, clear speech, dexterity in hands, driving, lifting, ability to mount/dismount equipment, pushing, and pulling.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
