Provide visible and active leadership to achieve outstanding safety results.
Collaborate with various departments, including operations, maintenance, and management.
Train both salaried and hourly employees, fostering safety leadership skills.
Manage the safety team, develop safety coordinators, and maintain strong relationships with other EHS team members and department leaders.
Influence Business Unit operations teams to incorporate health and safety systems and processes.
Support operations through planned and annual outage support.
Identify and implement health and safety best practices.
Assign and track safety activities, corrective action plans, and tasks.
Lead incident investigations, complete investigation files, and manage the worker’s compensation process.
Participate in required internal and external EHS audits and inspections.
Manage energy control, hearing conservation, and chemical management programs.
Implement systems to improve and sustain results.
Conduct qualitative exposure assessments and develop exposure monitoring strategies.
Develop and conduct health and safety training for mill employees and management.
Manage the mill safety program by coordinating activities of the employee-based safety team, conducting safety observations, and leading hazard assessments.
Lead and maintain Contractor safety efforts; assist in the development of contractor work plans and monitor compliance.
Participate and support joint safety committee.
Maintain files, permits, inspections, and certifications.
Implement and manage health and safety standards and program elements.
Desired Skills: The successful candidate should possess the ability to instill safety as a core value, quickly acquire knowledge of mill equipment, and effectively communicate with individuals at all levels. Other desired skills include:

Utilization of change management processes.
Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks effectively.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum of five (5) years’ management experience in heavy manufacturing/industrial environments.
Experience in a pulp and paper mill preferred.
Lean/six sigma certifications are a plus.
Flexibility to be on call or work off hours as needed.
