Job Description
Our company is currently in search of a Product Designer II to join our Kawneer business in Norcross, GA.

This position is responsible for all design aspects of new fenestration products which includes redesign and enhancements to existing products.
Responsibilities
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Key member of new product development team.
Lead design efforts in the development and enhancement of fenestration systems.
Collaborate with other Product Designers in their assigned projects.
Develop conceptual designs, prototypes, and final product engineering documentation.
Author Technical Brief based on Product Definition to assure compliance to project definitions.
Create all aspects of engineering support documentation.
Collaborate in the development of technical literature documentation.
Excellent Verbal Communication Skills (Need to be able to communicate with all levels of the organization).
Create and generate engineering change orders.
Collaborate with product manufacturing, procurement, and outside suppliers.
Participate and oversee test unit installation and product testing (Hands on which could include but not limited to kneeling, squatting, reaching over head, pushing, pulling, and lifting to 40lbs and using a ladder).
Expected overnight travel requirement 25 to 30%. (This could be for several weeks).
Collaborate with product manufacturing and institute Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
Work in close relationship with Drafters in the Development of Engineering Documents.
Work with technical authors in the development of technical literature such as Installation Instructions and other customer facing documentation.
Essential Knowledge & Skills
Competency in CAD Parametric modeling.
Experience creating new products based on market needs, systems design, and manufacturing processes.
Ability to work on projects with several unknown elements.
Ability to work with in all aspects of conceptual design.
Capacity to analyze and develop solutions of technical problems.
Ability to define design effort of project management activities.
Ability to communicate development targets/objectives with other project stakeholders.
Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with other design professionals.
Knowledge of fenestration industry codes and standards.
Ability to help develop new and improve existing engineering standards, work instructions and department procedures.
Proven design creativity record within fenestration products or systems.
Proficient knowledge of structural and thermal analysis of fenestration products
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Associate degree or 2 Year Technical Degree in Drafting Technology, Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
Must have excellent knowledge of 2D/3D modeling and AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks, or other 3D Modeling software
4 years of experience in product design experience in the Fenestration Industry (windows, doors, curtain wall, storefront).
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Drafting Technology, Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
