Job Description:
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the seamless flow of inventory through strategic procurement and management practices. As a Pharmacy Technician – Procurement, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders to maintain optimal inventory levels, meet operational requirements, and adhere to pricing guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Execute procurement strategies to acquire pharmaceuticals and supplies based on established order points and guidelines.
- Validate physical inventory against system records through regular cycle counts and periodic physical inventories.
- Communicate real-time shortages of medications and coordinate resolutions for inventory order challenges.
- Oversee responses to and manage medication recall notifications in collaboration with pharmacy management.
- Foster strong working relationships with suppliers to optimize the procurement process.
- Utilize inventory control programs and policies to achieve targeted inventory levels.
- Ensure the accuracy of computerized inventory records.
- Investigate variances and report findings to management.
- Generate and optimize program reports detailing volume, profitability, and other relevant metrics.
- Strive for continuous improvement in the efficiency of the procurement process.
Minimum Requirements:
- Active pharmacy technician license as required by state law.
- State Pharmacy Technician Certification or National Certification based on applicable state(s) requirements.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in inventory control and procurement; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:
- 2 years of experience in a high-volume mail-order pharmacy preferred.
- Experience working with inventory management software.
- Experience managing/processing drug recalls is preferred.
Skills and Certifications (Bold indicates required):
- Active Pharmacy Tech License (as required by the state)
- 3 years of inventory or procurement experience
- Mail order experience
- Experience managing/processing drug recalls is preferred.
