Job Description:

In this role, you will work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, contributing to surgical procedures by establishing and maintaining a sterile field in the operating room. Your responsibilities include setting up equipment, scrubbing in, and efficiently passing instruments and supplies to the surgeon. Additionally, you will play a key role in preparing patients for transport out of the operating room and ensuring a clean surgical environment.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Consistent and punctual attendance
  • Ability to function effectively in crisis/emergency situations
  • Proficient in reading, legible writing, and effective verbal communication in English

Education/Certifications/Licenses/Degrees:

  • Must possess American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) at the time of hire
  • National certification as a Surgical Technician

Experience:

Recent (within the past 2 years) experience in an acute hospital operating room is preferred.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
  • Physical agility and quick reaction time to respond to unexpected patient care needs

  • Fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects
  • Proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating and transferring
  • Lifting up to 75 pounds may be required
  • Adherence to standard precautions for potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids
  • Effective communication through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on the telephone
  • Periodic use of a personal computer may be required
