Key Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate extensively with diverse engineering teams to enhance existing gas turbine hardware and develop innovative component designs.
- Apply advanced mechanical analysis techniques to solve complex challenges related to both rotating and static turbine hardware.
- Demonstrate ingenuity and creativity while introducing novel concepts and solutions.
- Leverage expertise in gas turbine design fundamentals and secondary cooling flow systems to lead and execute projects from inception to product implementation.
- Manage projects, including root cause analysis, solution development, validation, and implementation, while ensuring performance, durability, maintainability, and cost targets are met.
- Perform detailed mechanical design work and oversee workscope alignment to meet time-sensitive project deliverables as part of our DevOps planning.
- Take charge of component rig or engine tests, including hardware coordination, instrumentation, scheduling, data analysis, and post-test hardware inspections.
- Communicate effectively through written, oral, and presentation skills.
- Provide essential support to various business operations, including customer services, manufacturing, and supply chain management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 12 years of hands-on experience in Mechanical Design.
- Expertise in concept and detail design principles.
- Proficiency in gas turbine design and analysis.
- Strong skills in using Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS) software for detailed modal and structural analysis.
- Capability to review and validate engineering drawings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 15 years of relevant mechanical design experience.
- Proficiency in the following skills and tools:
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance specifications (ASME Y14.5-2009).
- Creo (or related CAD system).
- Design experience with compressor and/or combustion sections.
- Practical manufacturing and producibility knowledge, including welding and brazing.
- ANSYS experience in the design and/or analysis of gas turbine components, gas turbine operation and application, materials and processes, manufacturing methods, and test procedures.
- Familiarity with detailed cross-section stack-ups.
- Knowledge of life prediction methods.
- Understanding of turbine blade heat transfer essentials.
- Familiarity with Windchill, Microsoft Office, and technical writing.
