Our Award Winning Client is currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer – Cranes to join their team at the Alcoa, TN location. This is a full-time onsite position with paid relocation assistance available. Our client, a nationally recognized company with a history of winning numerous awards, operates in the Mining/Metals industry, specifically in the field of Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will leverage your mechanical engineering expertise to lead and support various initiatives within the Tennessee Operations facility. Responsibilities include providing engineering leadership for crane and below-the-hook device engineering and safety programs, overseeing the Crane Inspection Crew, and offering engineering support to maintenance and operations. As a key contributor, you will also provide technical solutions to recurring design, process, and application challenges, analyze data for improvement opportunities, and manage capital projects and maintenance initiatives.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college/university.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ engineering experience with mechanical systems, including overhead gantry cranes, facilities, and industrial infrastructure, pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience and working knowledge of manufacturing processes and principles.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in equipment and component failure analysis.
  • Minimum of 3 years of AutoCAD or similar CAD software experience.
  • Engineering experience with cranes, hoists, rigging, and below-the-hook lifting devices in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of heavy industrial equipment (rolling mills and material handling equipment preferred).
  • Experience in justifying, managing, and installing capital projects.
  • Strong mechanical and structural engineering skills.
  • Understanding of world-class manufacturing techniques such as lean manufacturing, JIT, SPC, TQM, etc.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills.
