Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development:

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of engineers, including electrical, systems, modeling, software, and manufacturing, to support the development of various battery types and systems.
  • Take ownership of system design and occasionally lead fellow engineers in sub-system design.
  • Specify and design intricate mechanical components and sub-assemblies using the SolidWorks CAD system, ensuring alignment with high-volume production standards required by OEM and Aftermarket automotive industries.
  • Generate technical drawings of components and assemblies.
  • Conduct comprehensive studies for packaging in new product development and assess package studies for other engineering initiatives.
  • Execute FEA and CFD analysis, validate test results, and interpret findings in areas like Vibration Durability, Mechanical Shock, Crashworthiness, and General Structural Engineering.
  • Establish dimensional tolerance stacks and apply GD&T to components and/or assemblies, providing guidance to fellow engineers.
  • Apply design for manufacturability (DFM) principles to enhance manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Review and suggest enhancements to product requirements.
  • Create Engineering Documentation, encompassing DFMEA’s, Evaluations, Test Requests, and Test Reports.
  • Lead ongoing initiatives for cost reduction of components and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to facilitate product procurement and address engineering challenges.
  • Engage actively in team meetings to support program development.
  • Contribute input to ensure product quality through Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 3 years of pertinent experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in plastic component design and familiarity with the injection molding process.
  • Proficiency in Applied Solid Modeling (CAD) with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Products such as Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word.
  • Experience with DFMEA and DVP&R.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • General understanding of electrical and thermal engineering.
  • SolidWorks proficiency.
  • Sound knowledge of manufacturing practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
