Our client, a renowned leader in the Aerospace/Aviation/Defense industry, is seeking a dynamic Materials Management Lead to join their team in Fort Wayne, IN. This exciting opportunity involves overseeing and guiding all Supply Chain activities from the proposal stage through program award and execution. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing programs of varying complexity, influencing design for optimal supply chain success, and ensuring effective procurement efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Management Support:

  • Act as the supply chain liaison to the program team, aligning integrated supply chain resources with business needs.
  • Conduct material status meetings, deliver presentations to diverse audiences, and develop financial forecasts for material, aligning with earned value requirements.
  • Maintain program material cost, delivery, and labor baseline, supporting NPD stage gate processes.
  • Collaborate with the program to establish acceptable material schedules, ensuring timely resolution of issues.

Material Management:

  • Oversee Master Production Schedule (MPS) and MRP under general supervision.
  • Mentor team members on intricate functionalities of MRP and its appropriate application.
  • Manage timely purchase requisition release and collaborate with Production Planning and Inventory/Warehouse/Logistics.
  • Expedite FMR and MTO approvals, offering guidance and training.
  • Develop management strategies for inventory not planned by MRP.
  • Facilitate program closeout of material-related contractual obligations.

Proposal Support:

  • Lead proposal efforts, delivering and presenting PCR content, and guiding the material bid process.
  • Categorize material elements of cost and outline proposed execution strategy.

Operational Excellence:

  • Collaborate with supply chain data analytics to develop metrics and reports.
  • Lead supply chain risk and opportunity assessments, supporting audit activities.
  • Adhere to policies and practices for guidance and compliance.
  • Lead functional projects/teams, proposing sound and innovative business solutions.

Essential Functions:

  • Subject matter expert for Supply Chain principles and concepts, data analytics, and strategy development.
  • Collaborate with the program team to define appropriate execution methods.
  • Solve complex problems through data analysis, pursuing permanent resolution.
  • Thorough comprehension of MRP/Control, Cognos, PeopleSoft Financials, and PDM.


  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience.
  • 7 years of experience using MRP systems software.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience using MRP systems software.
  • Master Production Scheduling experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of FAR, MMAS, MAAR-13, and CAS.
  • Effective communication skills with various management and professional levels.
  • Experience in the US DOD manufacturing industry.
  • Basic knowledge of the manufacturing process.
  • Experience with CINCOM Control, Agile PLM, PDM, Expo, TrakStar, RIDS, PeopleSoft financial system, and Kinaxis Rapid Response is a plus.
