Position: Databricks Development Technical Lead

Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Full-time Onsite with Paid Relocation)

Job Summary:

Due to contractual requirements, candidates must be US citizens or Green Card holders.

As a key player in our client’s success, you will take on a hands-on role in designing, architecting, and developing software to support cloud data pipelines. This role requires technical leadership skills and the ability to lead and mentor development teams in implementing best practices for Databricks solutions within the Google Cloud Platform. Strong team and interpersonal skills are crucial, as you will be responsible for creating plans, managing activities, and assessing the viability of ongoing projects.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Communication and Collaboration:
    • Manage customer expectations and facilitate meetings.
    • Translate customer expectations for staff and peers.
    • Prepare written procedures, policies, reports, and correspondence.
    • Collaborate and negotiate with departments corporate-wide.
  2. Management Consulting:
    • Identify issues and recommend solutions.
    • Create and present concepts to clients, tailoring presentations to different audiences.
    • Implement recommendations/solutions and ensure clients receive necessary assistance.
  3. Continuous Improvement:
    • Organize, direct, and coordinate cross-functional activities.
    • Encourage innovation and focus resources on successful delivery of results.
    • Apply quantitative risk assessment to understand potential threats and mitigate risks.
  4. Leadership in Response to Business Opportunities/Challenges:
    • Oversee analysis of issues or needs and review recommended solutions.
    • Assess the impact of strategic business and technical changes.
    • Manage all activities within an assigned business unit/area.
  5. Resource Utilization Optimization:
    • Accept direction and provide leadership to develop/maintain a high-performance work team.
    • Respond to feedback and champion process improvement initiatives.
    • Implement solutions consistent with the company’s strategic direction.
    • Stay informed about current industry standards and trends.
  6. Staff Management:
    • Develop and provide input to skills assessment and oversee personal development plans.
    • Coach, manage, and develop employees by establishing clear goals and expectations.
    • Administer performance reviews with measurable goals.
    • Provide opportunities for staff to maintain current industry knowledge.
    • Provide opportunities for employees to build collaborative relationships with customers.
  7. Departmental Management:
    • Budgeting and fiscal responsibilities.
    • Manage teams spanning geographic or functional areas.
    • Ensure compliance with corporate standards, policies, and regulations.
    • Establish and use metrics for benchmarking and improving operational excellence.
    • Develop and implement short-term and long-term departmental plans.
    • Consult and evaluate vendor solutions when appropriate.
  8. Other Duties:
    • As assigned or requested.

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or closely related discipline.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in information technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or closely related discipline.

Experience:

  • Required:
    • 5 years in a leadership/mentoring role.
    • 5 years of planning, implementing, maintaining, and growing capabilities within the relevant discipline.
    • 3 years of developing, communicating, and presenting concepts to varying audiences.
  • Preferred:
    • Management experience in employee development plans, performance evaluations, and goal development.
    • Experience in budget administration and process improvement.
    • Knowledge and experience in developing strategic plans.
    • Demonstrated competency in executing multiple projects and managing resources across projects.
    • 3+ years of Databricks development.
    • Onshore US Citizen.
