Our company is currently in search of a Craft Training Supervisor to join our Global Rolled Products (GRP) Operations business unit in Davenport, IA.
Since it opened in 1948, the company’s Davenport, Iowa aluminum facility has been at the forefront of American manufacturing. Nestled on the banks of the Mississippi River in Iowa, the plant employs 2,400 people and is a focal point of the global aluminum industry. Through continued modernization, including a $300 million investment over the past decade alone, Davenport has maintained its position as the world’s premier aerospace supply plant and is today the hub of the company’s aerospace business.
Responsibilities
The position reports to the Maintenance Superintendent. In this position, the Training Supervisor will manage the Craft Training Department and its employee by doing the following:
Develop, maintain, and coordinate training programs for a 450-person maintenance workforce consisting of salaried professionals, engineers, techs, unit supervisors, and hourly craft positions.
Be accountable for the Davenport Welding certification program, Craft apprenticeship programs, plant-wide mobile equipment/fixed rail certification, the company’s Learning Management system, new hire safety onboarding training, Scott Community College training programs, plant-wide journey-level craft training systems and for developing and providing a wide range of the company’s maintenance training topics for maintenance and the plant.
Ensure consistent implementation and execution of policies and systems in the Maintenance Craft Training department to guarantee customer (internal and external) expectations are met at the lowest cost and always with safety at the forefront of every activity.
Manage performance of up to 2 salaried and up to 8 non-traditional hourly reports, through technical expertise, guidance, support, coaching, counseling, and leadership in the day-to-day performance of maintenance planning activities.
Lead the Davenport Works Joint Apprenticeship Committee, and the Davenport Works Probationary Employee Review Board and participate in Business Unit and corporate-level training committees and initiatives.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with an additional 3-year minimum manufacturing maintenance experience – OR – 5 years of Manufacturing Maintenance experience
3 years of experience managing direct reports
Good communication skills (written and verbal) and relationship-building skills.
3 years of experience in managing department objectives

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
6+ years of maintenance and/or technical experience
Learning Management System administrator knowledge
Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix organization.
Results-oriented.
Ability to lead the team through change.
Excellent problem-solving skills
Excellent project management skills and demonstrated experience driving projects to completion.
Ability to identify and implement cost reduction initiatives.
Background in education (developing, maintaining, and coordinating training programs)
