POSITION SUMMARY: The Controls Service Technician will receive direction from the BAS Service Supervisor. This role involves supporting BAS preventive maintenance agreements, handling service-related calls, warranty calls for BAS projects, and participating in an on-call rotation for automation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Program, commission, and diagnose problems on various pneumatic/electric/electronic control systems.
  • Preferred certifications in Niagara, JCI, Distech, or other relevant vendors.
  • Perform limited project management assignments, direct installation sub-contractors, and conduct scheduled checkout of building controls on assigned small projects.
  • Conduct calibration of systems requiring basic electronic test equipment.
  • Schedule and perform service calls and preventive maintenance as directed by dispatch and service supervisor.
  • Implement energy conservation measures (ECMs) to BAS systems.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams, controls sub-contractors, and report activities to project teams, project managers, and supervisor.
  • Complete required commissioning documentation and maintain a productive schedule.
  • Develop and mentor fellow service technicians in best practices of BAS service work.
  • Work on and communicate to the Service Manager career development plans, including desired career path and leadership training opportunities.
  • Adhere to safety standards with a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
  • Always present the best image to the customer and wear a company uniform at all times.
  • Capable of climbing ladders and utilizing man-lifts to reach equipment and install components.

Experience and Skills:

  • Associate degree in Electronics or Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, Computer Technology, or Air Conditioning Technology.
  • In lieu of a college degree, equivalent of 3 to 5 years’ experience in HVAC mechanical and/or control systems.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Control Integrator/Programmer related to service and maintenance.
  • PC experience required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record as required by the company’s insurance provider.
