Job Order: Industrial Electrician Industry: Manufacturing & Production Job Category: Engineering – Industrial / Manufacturing

Job Summary: The Industrial Electrician is responsible for overseeing and performing preventative and reactive maintenance duties required for the plant’s manufacturing operation.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the installation, repair, and maintenance of up to 480V 3-phase electrical systems.
  2. Direct and perform preventative, predictive, and proactive maintenance.
  3. Install all wiring and run conduit.
  4. Create and manage work orders.
  5. Responsible for ordering parts and maintaining an adequate spare parts inventory.
  6. Establish and maintain an inspection program for all motors and electrical equipment.
  7. Test existing equipment to determine if components of a system need to be upgraded or replaced.
  8. Inspect switches, motors, regulators, and other parts of the industrial electrical system.
  9. Troubleshoot Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems.
  10. Repair lift trucks (LPG and Diesel) and any equipment required to maintain maximum production rates.
  11. Overhaul process systems and equipment to ensure optimal equipment uptime.
  12. Ensure that all equipment is kept in proper and safe working condition.
  13. Practice proper PPE compliance and maintain a safe working record and environment.
  14. Maintain facility housekeeping.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in basic industrial, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and pneumatic skills, including troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge and experience with Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to interpret and read both electrical and mechanical drawings, schematics, and ladder diagrams.
  • Basic welding skills.
  • Competency in installing 3-phase motors and control circuits.
  • Capability to rebuild a gearbox.
  • Familiarity with chillers, cooling towers, and pump skids.
  • Understanding of inputs and outputs on PLC circuits.
  • Experience with Natural Gas Burners.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.

Education and Experience:

  • High School, Vocational, or Technical school Diploma, GED, or equivalent education preferred.
  • Diesel Mechanic or Electrical certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of ten years of Maintenance/Electrical experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting abilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • The incumbent must possess the strength and stamina to perform medium to heavy physical work and may occasionally be exposed to dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions, and extreme noise when working in the field.
  • Ability to work at varied heights and possess the ability to climb ladders.
  • Proficiency in operating varied hand and power tools and related equipment; vision to read printed materials; color vision to identify electrical wires and pipes; finger dexterity to operate above-mentioned tools and equipment; ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb to perform work and inspect work sites; ability to lift, move, and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds and heavier weights with the use of proper equipment.
