Maintenance Engineer II Location: Monroe, North Carolina

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with maintenance and production teams on various projects, major maintenance tasks, and oversee outages and shutdowns.
  • Research, design, and assess new equipment, tools, processes, and standards with a focus on safety, quality, cost efficiency, and responsiveness.
  • Manage multiple projects within the maintenance organization, including planned outages, major maintenance, shutdowns, and miscellaneous projects.
  • Design equipment, processes, and standards to enhance efficiency and safety in both maintenance and production.
  • Lead troubleshooting events and oversee repairs resulting from these events.
  • Develop control standards for continuous improvements in efficiency, reliability, quality, and safety.
  • Conduct audits, benchmarking studies, and research in external machine shops, rebuild shops, and OEMs for ongoing improvement.
  • Oversee the Preventive Maintenance (PM) process, including the creation and evaluation of PMs to ensure their effectiveness and timely completion.
  • Act as the internal/external technical contact for various processes, including plasma arc melting (PAM) and vacuum arc remelting (VAR), providing support for raw materials compacting, bulk welding, and primary and final melting operations.
  • Develop and maintain technical expertise in melting processes of Ti (Std/HCN/Eli) base superalloys.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance personnel to enhance safety, equipment performance, and product quality by developing improvements to manufacturing processes and standards.
  • Plan, execute, and manage product/process continuous improvement programs supporting multiple value streams using the Plan-Do-Check-Act approach.
  • Lead or participate in team-based continuous improvement activities, including risk assessments (RAA), problem-solving reports (PSR), process audits, and standard work.
  • Support internal/external customers by analyzing process data, chemistry data, and non-destructive testing data.
  • Coordinate with Product Engineering and R&D in the development, evaluation, and standardization of new products and processes.
  • Assume direct product line responsibility as opportunities arise, including ingot finished goods.

Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field OR 4 years of Mechanical Design experience.
  • 3 years of Mechanical Design Experience in a Manufacturing Environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Six Sigma Black/Green Belt or related certification.
  • Statistical data analysis using JMP, Mini-Tab, or related software.
  • AutoCAD or SolidWorks experience.
  • PLC troubleshooting skills.
  • Maximo or other CMMS experience.

  • 5+ to 7 years of experience
