Job Description: Our award-winning client is in search of a talented Thermal and Combustion Engineer to be a key contributor to their Global Rolled Products (GRP) business unit. Based in Davenport, IA, this role involves coordinating all phases of thermal engineering projects, maintaining relationships with vendors, and leading problem-solving efforts with a multidisciplinary technical staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate various phases of assigned area thermal engineering projects.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and existing contractors of thermal and combustion equipment.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts with a diverse technical staff, maintenance, and production teams.
  • Utilize tools like PI Vision and Data Link for analyzing process issues and providing solutions.
  • Develop combustion control solutions to support process improvements and enhance equipment reliability.
  • Provide assistance to production and maintenance in addressing equipment and process issues.
  • Redesign and upgrade PLC/HMI and controls for existing processes.
  • Mentor employees to enhance their knowledge of equipment and processes.
  • Participate in technical assessments of equipment and contribute to process equipment optimization.
  • Provide training on equipment, control, and process to the technical base.
  • Contribute to the development and deployment of standard practices.
  • Offer engineering and operational support for large capital improvement projects.
  • Sponsor, participate, and occasionally lead development projects.
  • Provide guidance to plant resources on capital and process solutions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Rockwell PLCs is a plus.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with PLC experience (at time of employment).
  • Minimum 1 internship, co-op, or other applicable work experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with combustion systems (maintenance) is advantageous.
  • 3 years’ experience with PLC’s, HMI’s, AC/DC drives & motors, and measuring instruments.
  • Proficiency with Rockwell programming software (i.e., RS Logix and FactoryView).
  • 3 years or more of experience in leading electrical projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Project programs.
